About Our School
The Holy Three Hierarchs - St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory the Theologian and St. John Chrysostom - were incomparable educators, recommending the serious study of all academic subjects and emphasizing the value of Greek wisdom, especially adopting the positive elements of Hellenism. They also reminded parents that they were to be the first to give their children religious instruction, and that schools should be built in quiet places, since they have to do with the forming of souls.
Saint Anthony the Great taught that the desert is an inner and outer place of spiritual warfare, prayer, and healing communion with God. When someone once asked St. Anthony “What must one do in order to please God?”, he replied, “Pay attention to what I tell you: whoever you may be, always have God before your eyes; whatever you do, do it according to the witness of the holy Scriptures; in whatever place you live, do not easily leave it. Keep these three precepts and you will be saved.”
And so Three Hierarchs Academy (3HA) was founded in the stillness of the Sonoran desert, mere minutes away from St. Anthony’s Greek Orthodox Monastery in Florence, Arizona. Today 3HA is an educational refuge for young Orthodox Christians where God and the Saints are continually before the eyes of our students, where Orthodox Christian teachers extrapolate and expand the Orthodox Christian teachings of the home, and where the broad, Hellenic-oriented educational principles of the Holy Three Hierarchs are followed.

Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten curriculum, is designed to provide the necessary foundation for the spiritual, academic, and social development of each child. Through interactive discovery and engagement in a wide range of developmental activities, children build the foundation for a life-long love of learning. Students acquire language and vocabulary skills, make scientific, mathematical, and social discoveries, and develop their social and motor skills.

Grades 1 - 5
Our Elementary school curriculum begins with a solid foundation by developing reading and writing skills through a vigorous phonics program. Our teaching methods implement a variety of approaches – teacher-led instruction along with inquiry, problem, and project-based learning – for the instruction of math, science, and history. Such an approach peaks a child’s curiosity and makes learning fun and enjoyable while addressing the individual needs of each student.

Grades 6 & 7
Our middle school grades are focused on preparation for high school. Students expand a variety of literary genres from a selection of some of the great poets and prose writers of English literature. Virtues and values found in these great works are compared to those in Orthodox Christian literature.
